Connecticut man sentenced in Iowa for using romance scam to prey on vulnerable victims
Naabanyin Aniagyei-Cobbold, 30, of East Hartford, was sentenced in Des Moines, Iowa to nine years in prison. He must pay more than $1.5 million back to his victims.
The FBI reported that in 2024, approximately 59,000 individuals fell victim to romance scams, losing over $672 million.
