Bipes: The Strangest of Creatures The genus Bipes is endemic to México and contains just three species, Bipes biporus from the Baja Peninsula, and 2 lesser-known species from mainland México. B. canaliculatus is found in the Balsas-Tepalcatepec Basin in Guerrero and Michoacan, and B. tridactylus appears to be restricted to the immediate vicinity of the Rio Tecpan in coastal Guerrero.
