Do you wonder what actually goes on behind the drape in a caesarean birth! It is actually really good to know this because it really puts context to how caesarean birth, whilst common, is still MAJOR ABDOMINAL SURGERY and should be treated as such when it comes to consent and decision making, as well as postpartum recovery. Just because it is an everyday thing for us health professionals doesn’t mean it isn’t a big deal for you! It gives you great context for that postpartum rehabilitation too!
